But we never think that he was a normal person just as who we are. If he hadn’t followed turth and taken advice from others,then how could he be the king and administer the country up to this? However, because of his high status, he long lived in the palace where all the people eagerly followed and flattered him and depended on his right and wrong, and on his like and dislike. Day by day, he was used to others’ flattery which was a must in his life as a drug addict and failed to live without praise and flattery.
When he loses his kingship, power and experiences hardships, he regains humanity so when he dies what he thinks is not the reputation, the majesty, but the little daughter he expelled out of court. But he could not reclaim her enthusiasm and love from her sinking. He learned human kindred spirit is the most valuable and it can not be buyed through money or power because of these various experiences. When he is satisfied and happy with the other two daughters’ flatter, Cordelia refuses to behave like her sisters but just being honest and this really provokes and disappoints him. He is so angry and drives his youngest daughter out of the country.
Kedilixia was kind, innocent, and filial, meanwhile, she was stubborn and impulsive. Now that she knew her older sisters’ characters, why not fought for a postion to pave the way for her old father? Keep our self-respect and way doesn’t do anything wrong,but sometimes people need talk and communication ,and sometimes words have more effect than action. She was happy and because she has nothing at all, she married a man who loved her very much. It was impossible for her two sisters. She lived a life of loving and being loved. She was also impulsive at the same time. She sent troops to suppress the women because of her two sister’s ungrateful treatment to her father, to the final defeat humiliated and died in prison. Was that reall not her impulse to do so?
She should take action when the time was ripe even if she couldn’t wait with a kind heart. However, she declared the fight before she was well prepared. Therefore, it is normal that she failed at last. This story happened in an old kingdom far away from our time, but in our practical life, such examples also exist. We all like sweet people and flattery, but in the end, they ruin us. Is it a condemn to those honey-mouthed and dagger-hearted machinators? In reality, there is a big differenc between phenomenon and essence, outside and inside. We cannot lose our heads and become a King Lear just because of outside and phenomenon. “The shining things are not all golds”. However, there is a standard and belief of right and wrong, true and false. Nobody can make a judgment about them. The real life is cruel and we cannot have all good results like stories.
We are all going through this before we can really identify good or bad, and we can not lose the ability to discern the reason because his heart desired. We should restrain the love of sweet, without the taste of bitter, how will we know the taste of sweet?
